Gay & Lesbian
Gay and lesbian persons have been frequently subjected to hurtful
and negative judgments that can affect self image, increase fears
and block creative energy. If you are feeling alone or depressed,
recovering from a relationship or in an unhappy one, struggling with
drug dependency or sexual issues, or unable to focus on work or
career concerns, it can be very helpful to consider psychotherapy.
In a safe setting that is confidential, we will explore your
feelings, history, relationships and hopes to identify strengths and
resolve conflicts. Therapy will be supportive, affirmative and
explorative. Individual, couple and group therapy specifically for
gay persons is available. Areas of focus include:
~Anxiety ~Grief and
Mourning
~Depression ~Health Issues
~Relationships ~HIV
~Work Concerns ~Addictions
What You Can Expect in Subsequent Sessions
Therapy should show some concrete results in a reasonable period
of time. After several months we will together evaluate goals and
progress to make sure you are benefiting from your sessions.
Ultimately therapy can and should accomplish some of the following
objectives:
~Lessen Fears and Reduce Anxiety
~Increase Feelings of
Self Acceptance
and Esteem
~Deepen Insight and Knowledge
~Expand Hopefulness About the
Future
~Achieve Greater Focus and Mastery
